How to order a custom wedding dress from Vietnam.
Ordering a custom wedding dress from Vietnam can work well for an international bride when the process is clear before payment: inquiry, quote, measurements, production, final QC, shipping, and local alterations.

The first question brides ask is usually simple: can a custom wedding dress from Vietnam be ordered online, safely, and with enough proof before the dress ships?
My answer is yes — but only when each step is written clearly before payment is requested. At VI Dressmakers, no payment is requested before the brief, timeline, measurements, fabric direction, and delivery plan are reviewed.
This guide explains the order process I use at VI Dressmakers, from the first message through consultation, quote, measurement review, atelier production, final QC, shipping, and local alterations after delivery.
A good order starts with clear scope, timeline, measurements, and proof before production moves forward.
Inquiry
Start with a short brief, not a payment.
The first step is a short inquiry. You do not need a complete technical spec, but I do need enough context to understand the dress direction, wedding timing, and delivery plan.
Send your wedding date or target delivery month, delivery city and country, inspiration images or links, preferred silhouette, fabric direction if you know it, and the fit concerns you are most worried about.

This tells me whether the timeline is realistic before I discuss a quote.

City and country affect shipping route, timing, and whether pickup in Ho Chi Minh City is part of the plan.

Photos, Pinterest boards, salon try-on pictures, or designer references help me understand the silhouette and fabric direction.

Fit concerns
Tell me what worries you: strapless support, bust fit, hip ease, coverage, sleeve comfort, or hem length.
If your references are from another designer, I use them as direction. They are not treated as a request to copy another gown exactly. Read how I review inspiration photos before quoting.
Consultation and quote
A written quote comes after the brief is reviewed.
A useful quote is not only a price. It should explain what is being made, what is included, what is excluded, what is still pending, and when payment would be requested.
During consultation, I review silhouette, fabric direction, bodice structure, lining or coverage, train, lace or beading, timeline, and shipping plan. If the direction is not realistic for the date or budget, I say so before asking for a deposit.

Measurements
Measurements are confirmed before fabric is cut.
Measurements can be confirmed three ways: a live WhatsApp video call where I guide you through each point, a local tailor or helper who takes the measurements and sends the numbers for review, or an in-person appointment at my private studio in Ho Chi Minh City.
I review the measurements against the actual dress direction. A strapless corset, lace sleeve, fitted mermaid, and soft draped gown do not need the same checks. If a number looks inconsistent, I ask for a recheck, photo, short video, or clarification before cutting.

Useful when someone nearby can measure and send the numbers for my review.

Useful for brides visiting Ho Chi Minh City before production or collecting after final QC.

Recheck before cutting
Fabric is not cut until the measurements are clear enough for the confirmed design.
Remote measurement review helps reduce fit risk, but it cannot remove every fit risk. Read the measurement support page before deciding how you want to measure.
Production
The atelier starts after quote, deposit, and measurements are confirmed.
After the production deposit and measurements are confirmed, the atelier prepares the pattern, materials, structure, lining, and finishing plan. Most custom wedding dress orders take 8-12 atelier weeks after deposit and confirmed measurements, depending on complexity and schedule.
Updates are shared when they help the order move forward. Some dresses need lace placement proof. Some need structure or train checks. Some need fabric or coverage confirmation. I do not promise a fixed photo schedule for every gown because each build needs different checkpoints.

Structure
Corset, cups, boning, straps, closure, and support are checked against the confirmed design.

Fabric
Fabric direction, lining, and surface behavior are reviewed before production moves too far.

Lace or beading
Placement, coverage, symmetry, and handwork need more time than plain fabric.

Timeline
VI Dressmakers does not accept orders with less than 6 weeks to the wedding date.

Final QC
You review the finished dress before final balance.
When the dress is finished, I review it on the stand before final balance is requested. For shipped orders, final QC photos or video are sent before the parcel leaves Vietnam.
Final QC can include front, back, closure, hem, lining, train, bodice structure, lace placement, beading, and overall finish. The exact proof depends on the dress and what needed review during production.

Shipping or pickup
After final balance, the dress is packed for shipping or HCMC pickup.
For shipped orders, the dress is packed after final QC and final balance. VI Dressmakers works with a logistics partner for international wedding dress shipping. Tracking is shared privately after the courier confirms movement.
For shipped gown orders handled door-to-door, the confirmed shipping cost covers courier transit, import handling, and delivery to the address shown in the quote. No additional charges are collected on arrival.
Brides who prefer can book an appointment to try on and collect the finished dress in Ho Chi Minh City after QC. Final payment is settled at collection, and no shipping step is needed.

Local alterations
Plan a try-on window after delivery.
A custom dress can be made carefully and still need small local alterations after delivery. This is normal for remote custom work because posture, body changes, shoe height, undergarments, and comfort preferences can affect the final fit.
After the dress arrives, try it on early. Check hem length with wedding shoes, bust and waist comfort, straps or sleeves, bustle plan, and movement while sitting and walking.
If something feels off, send try-on photos or a short video before visiting a tailor. I can point out what to discuss so the local alteration appointment is more focused.
