UK Orders

What UK brides order from VI Dressmakers

Vi works with brides across England, Scotland, and Wales — London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol, and beyond. Most begin with inspiration images, a wedding date, and a short note about what they are looking for.

The dress is made in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Once deposit and measurements are confirmed, atelier production usually takes 8–12 weeks. UK brides should plan for consultation, production, international shipping, and a local alteration window after delivery.

No payment is required to start the conversation. Vi reviews feasibility before payment is discussed.

Reviewed by Vi first

Silhouette, fabric direction, structure, fit concerns, timeline, and UK delivery address are reviewed before a quote is issued.

Written quote before deposit

The production deposit is requested only after the dress direction is confirmed in writing, with design scope, payment milestones, and official payment instructions included.

Measurements

Measurements can be confirmed three ways: a live WhatsApp video call with Vi, a local tailor or helper who sends numbers for Vi's review, or an in-person appointment at Vi's private studio in Ho Chi Minh City. Fabric is not cut until measurements are confirmed.

QC before final balance

Final QC photos or video are shared for your review before final balance and dispatch. You see the finished gown on the stand before payment is requested.

What to plan for

  • Start at least 3 months before the wedding; 4+ months is safer for lace, beading, heavy embellishment, long trains, or complex silhouettes.
  • Shipping cost is confirmed in writing before dispatch. It covers door-to-door delivery to the UK — courier transit and import handling included. No additional charges on arrival.
  • Allow time for delivery, try-on, and small local alterations after the dress arrives.
  • Vi shares tracking once the courier confirms dispatch

Church ceremonies and venues with specific coverage requirements can be reviewed before production. Simone’s case shows how a sheer designer reference was adapted for church-appropriate coverage.

Remote and in-person support

What the process can and cannot cover

What the process supports

  • Reviewing dress direction before production
  • Guided measurement checklist and recheck before cutting
  • Private studio consultation in Ho Chi Minh City by appointment
  • Production check-ins as needed for structure, lace, or finishing
  • Final QC photos or video before final balance
  • Tracked international shipping where available

What it cannot guarantee

  • That measurements remove every fit risk
  • That no local alterations will be needed after delivery
  • UK customs processing times or courier delivery windows

Vi flags fit risks early and designs with post-delivery alteration in mind where relevant. If small changes are needed after delivery, send try-on photos or a short video before visiting a local tailor so Vi can point out what to discuss.

Questions

Questions UK brides ask first

Do I need to visit Vietnam to order?

No. UK brides can work with Vi remotely from inquiry through to shipping. Brides visiting Ho Chi Minh City can book an appointment at Vi's private studio — measurements, fabric samples, and design consultation in one visit. Finished work from previous orders can be seen on request. By appointment only. After production, brides can book an appointment to try on and collect the finished dress in Ho Chi Minh City.

How long does shipping from Vietnam to the UK take?

DHL from Ho Chi Minh City to most UK cities takes 7–14 business days from dispatch. Tracking is shared once the courier confirms dispatch. Allow additional time for delivery and local alterations after the dress arrives.

What customs charges should I expect in the UK?

Shipping is arranged door-to-door. The confirmed shipping cost covers courier transit, import handling, and delivery to your address. No additional charges on arrival.

Can Vi adapt a dress for a church ceremony?

Yes. Simone’s case shows a sheer designer reference adapted into a full-coverage lace A-line for a church ceremony. Coverage, sleeve length, neckline, and lining are part of the brief review.

What is the time difference between Vietnam and the UK?

Vietnam is UTC+7. The UK is UTC+0 (GMT) or UTC+1 (BST in summer). Most WhatsApp communication is handled within 24–48 hours. Vi typically replies within one working day.

When should I start my order?

UK brides should start at least 3 months before the wedding. That covers consultation and measurement confirmation, 8–12 atelier weeks of production, 7–14 business days of shipping transit, and a buffer for local alterations. For lace, beading, heavy embellishment, or complex silhouettes, 4+ months is safer.
