Bride Vision

She wanted to look like herself.

Mei Lin is an architect. She came to us after months of bridal-salon visits in Singapore, each one trying to dress her in lace, pearls, or volume she’d never wear in her own life.

Her brief was a single sentence: “I want to look like myself, only sharper.” The ceremony would be small — twenty-eight guests in a chapel with a glass roof, surrounded by tropical foliage and afternoon humidity. No train, no veil, no decoration that would wilt by the second hour.

“I’m 1.55m. Most bridal sample dresses make me look like I’m wearing a quilt. I needed someone to actually build for my proportions.”

Design Direction

Three sketches. No decoration.

Mei Lin didn’t need help imagining her dress — she needed help building it. Vi sketched three minimalist directions, each solving for a different proportion challenge: lengthening the torso, balancing the shoulders, or simplifying the hem for grass underfoot.

Stock photo: soft A-line gown in outdoor light — direction A mood (illustrative only)
A. Soft A-line, bateau neckline, drop shoulders.
Stock photo: clean minimalist gown outdoors — chosen direction B (illustrative only)
B. Square neckline, hidden side seams. Chosen.
Stock photo: sculpted gown with train — strapless column alternative mood (illustrative only)
C. Strapless column, optional off-shoulder cape.

Fabric

Italian crepe · 280 gsm

Heavy enough to skim, breathable enough for tropical humidity. No wrinkle creep.

Proportion

Petite-cut bodice

Bodice shortened by 4cm; armhole raised; waist seam set higher to lengthen the leg line.

Hem

Floor-skim · grass safe

Cut to clear unmown grass and a slight garden incline without scuffing.

03

Process

Four months. Three fittings. Mostly over chat.

  1. Week 0

    Inquiry & consultation

Mei Lin sent five reference photos and a single sentence about the venue. The consultation happened over WhatsApp across four days — sketches in the morning Saigon time, replies during her lunch break in Singapore. By the end of the week, the design was locked.

  2. Week 2

    Remote measurements

Her sister-in-law helped with the 14-point measurement video. Two readings looked unusually narrow at the rib cage; we re-measured together over a quick video call to confirm. Production payment was unlocked the same day.

  3. Weeks 3 – 11

    Production · 3 fitting checkpoints

Calico mock-up → first fitting video. Crepe pattern → second fitting (we shifted the bust dart 6mm). Final stitching → third fitting. Each video was filmed under daylight and posted to a private link. Mei Lin reviewed during her commute and replied within hours.

  4. Week 14

    Final QC + shipping

Final QC video — every seam, dart, and zipper inspected. Balance + shipping paid. Tracked door-to-door delivery to her flat in Singapore in 3 business days.

  5. Week 16

    She wore it.
